Many users have probably heard of the general misconception that antivirus software has to be large, obtrusive, slow and wasteful with the resources of your system.
Though it claims to be fast too, I have to disagree. I wasn’t exactly happy to notice that even the "quick scan" takes more than an hour to complete on a rather clean computer where a new OS has been recently installed. I don’t even want to imagine how long a full, thorough scan would take on an older and messier computer. Other than that, the tool is OK and delivers what it advertises.
It offers a simple and intuitive interface that can be used with ease even by complete beginners. The application can protect your system in real-time while residing unobtrusive and unnoticed in the system tray area. The virus detection is based on virus signatures which are frequently updated in order to ensure a high level of protection for your system. I would like to have a customizable, more powerful heuristic-based engine too but the frequent definition updates are more than enough to ensure the security of the system. On the other hand, it also features scheduled scans, which is a nice addition in my opinion.
To sum it all up, VIRUSfighter is a nice antivirus who will surely please those users who are especially interested in a lightweight, simple and unobtrusive security utility.
